Located in northern Alabama, almost in the center of Marion County, you will find the growing community of Hamilton Alabama. Our highways and business are developing, but we are still retaining our small town charm. While visiting here you can take advantage of the Bear Creek Canoeing Run as well as our lakes, parks, theater and arts.
The history of the area is fascinating. Hamilton is located along the historic passage known as "Military Road". Volunteer soldiers returning north to their homes in Tennessee, after victory over the British at New Orleans in 1815, carved this road out of the wilderness as a short-cut between New Orleans and Nashville. A bike and hiking trail is underway to commemorate the time-honored road's turn in United States history.
Also nearby is Jerry Brown Pottery, a nationally known attraction and home to Jerry Brown, a local potter whose hand-made creations are on display at the Smithsonian. Jerry and his wife, Sandra, run a small family operation where he still uses a mule to power the clay mill.

A free fireworks show is also held each July 4th beginning at sundown. The WaterPark is open daily Memorial Day weekend through mid-August.

As one of the finest examples of the ecological and geological features composing our Nation's Natural History - Dismals Canyon was designated a "National Natural Landmark" in 1975 by the National Park Service - one of only 587 in the United States and its territories.

The town is notable for the nearby rock arch, also named Natural Bridge, the longest natural bridge east of the Rockies, spanning over 127 ft, which has public access. Natural Bridge Park features hiking trails and unspoiled natural beauty for nature enthusiasts.
